George and Anna Evanko raised their family of 8 children in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. Thirteen children were born, but only 8 survived to become adults. The 8 surviving children produced 22 descendants. From those 22 descendants, the next generation includes 32 children. The newest generation has begun, with the birth of "9" children so far.

A (future) Doctor in the Family
Meg Mathewson was one of the first 6 students accepted as a member of the inaugural class at The Commonwealth Medical College, Scranton's new medical school. She is looking forward to starting in the fall. We are very proud of her.

In Honor of Our Veterans
We honor our veterans today. My dad was a very proud veteran, as were most, if not all, of our dads. He helped create the monument you see at the bottom, which is in Sturges.
If you have not done so yet, be sure to place your veteran's name in the World War II registry. The site is at http://www.wwiimemorial.com/default.asp?page=home.asp , look at the links to add a name to the registry. They will verify the information and include it, and then you can find their names in the official World War II registry. You can find the honoree Robert Joseph Konkol here: http://www.wwiimemorial.com/registry/search/pframe.asp?HonoreeID=1459167&popcount=2&tcount=2

Let's Go Back a Few Years
I thought if we were going to have a blog on "The Descendants of George and Anna Evanko," we should include the direct descendants. I dug up some snapshots of Baba and Dede's 55th wedding anniversary, taken on October 17, 1965. You can see them here: http://picasaweb.google.com/jjlbs49/55thWeddingAnniversary?authkey=ntIjL9x0SbQ. If you've never used Picasa before, run it in "Slide Show" mode. I think the images look better (although they were taken with an Instamatic, so don't expect great). You will probably want to set the duration to something longer than the default of three seconds, which you can do by using the controls at the bottom of the screen.

Three Sisters
Three sisters...Aunt Nancy, Aunt Margie, and Aunt Emma. And we miss the others that are no longer with us: Uncle Joe, Uncle John, Uncle Tom, Aunt Olga, and Aunt Mary. We also miss Uncle Bob, Aunt Helen, Uncle Joe, Aunt Evelyn, Uncle Steve, and Aunt Marge.
The Cousins
Aunt Margie's 75th Birthday Party brought us all together. We had a great time that day. (Haha, look at the squatters in the front.)
